Corps of Engineers reopening seven more Lake Lanier parks

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reached a deal with Forsyth and Hall counties to let them reopen nearly all of the nine closed Corps-owned parks on Lake Lanier for the Fourth of July weekend.

Corps officials announced the deal on Monday. Six parks will be operated by the county governments under one-year Challenge Cost Share Cooperative Management Agreements.

A seventh park, Burton Mill Park, will temporarily open from Friday through next Monday so visitors can enjoy the Fourth of July weekend at that park…
