Montgomery police increasing patrols ahead of Fourth of July celebrations

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The Fourth of July weekend is underway, and Montgomery police say they are increasing patrols to ensure public safety.

“We want to make sure that we’re maximizing our manpower to be responding to the calls and situations as they arise over the holiday,” said Montgomery Police Chief Jim Graboys.

Officers will be monitoring busy areas, including downtown, where large crowds are expected. Units will also be on the lookout for illegal street activity, such as street racing, burnouts, drifting, and loud engine revving in non-designated areas…
