Myrtle Beach bicycle officer hit by SUV fleeing from authorities on Ocean Boulevard, suffers minor injuries

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach police officer on a bicycle suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital Thursday night after being hit by a driver who fled a traffic stop on N. Ocean Boulevard, police said.

The driver, who has not been identified, was taken into custody after his vehicle stopped at 16th Avenue N. and Withers Drive, police said in a Facebook post on Friday.

Police said the incident began at about 9:05 p.m. when officers tried to pull over a Toyota 4 Runner SUV at 1200 N. Ocean Boulevard and the driver fled. The officer was hit as officers tried again to stop the SUV about a block north of where the pursuit began…
