Wanted man caught stuffing backpack with stolen items at Walmart

A Leesburg man was arrested for theft after he and an unidentified companion stuffed a backpack with $230 in stolen merchandise at Walmart.

An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., to assist with a retail theft at 6 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he learned that a loss prevention officer was watching the security cameras when he saw 31-year-old Michael Brandon Steadham come into the store.

Steadham had a person following him who was never identified but helped with the theft. He and this other man grabbed a shopping cart and went directly to the electronics department. They then walked to multiple different departments, ending up in the children’s clothing department, the report said.

Steadham and his friend selected several children’s clothing items and put them in the shopping cart. They both proceeded to the men’s clothing department, picked up more items and put them in the cart. They then put the items in a black backpack that Steadham’s friend was wearing when they came into the store, the report said…
