Effective immediately, the newly constructed roundabout at 8th Avenue / Mt. Vernon Road SE, and the streets around it, are all open to traffic.
The 8th Ave SE & Mt Vernon Rd from 8th St SE to 14th St Reconstruction project began in 2023. In addition to construction of the roundabout, additional improvements included reconstruction of the roadway; the installation of raised medians with aesthetic improvements; replacement of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main; and installation of ADA sidewalk ramps with pedestrian beacons at the roundabout crosswalks.
A few work items still need to be completed outside of the travel lanes, and plantings are scheduled for this fall…
