CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Multiple rescuers join forces to rescue a baby dolphin tangled in fishing gear in the waters of Port Aransas.
The Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN) said rescuers removed over 10 feet of line from the calf, including several hogties that caused deep cuts to its fin after repeatedly being tangled in the water.
However, this isn’t the first time the calf was injured. Heidi Whitehead, the executive director for TMMSN, said, “The young calf was estimated to be born this past spring there in Port Aransas. It has sustained some pretty severe entanglement and injury to its dorsal fan as well as its tail, so we received the first report of the entanglement in early June.”…
