DC man sentenced for 2024 kidnapping, assault of woman

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced Thursday for his role in orchestrating the kidnapping and robbery of a woman in January 2024, according to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.

The USAO states Andrew James, also known as Jerimiah Butts, 32, was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years of supervised release after being convicted of kidnapping, first-degree burglary, robbery and felony threats.

James’ co-conspirator, Taurean Hobdy, was also convicted of the same charges, the USAO adds.
