WASHINGTON (7News) — D.C. crime has seen an overall 7% decrease in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year, and a continued downward trend from crime highs in 2023, according to preliminary data from the Metropolitan Police Department released on Tuesday.
The agency’s daily report showed a decrease in violent crime across the region from Jan. 1 to June 30, most notably with sex abuse cases down nearly 50%, and robberies down by 26% when compared to Jan. 1 – June 30, 2024.
