Summers in Colorado are meant for being outdoors; with that Windsor has a little movie series for us to enjoy.
Legendary Family Farm Holds Windsor’s Oldest Building
Just north of Greeley Ditch #2 along 15th Street in Windsor, you’ll find the Jacoby Farm neighborhood, which was once a working farm dating back to 1910. Also at the spot, was a stagecoach stop, halfway between Greeley and LaPorte. The trail is long gone, but that old building still remains.
The Town of Windsor developed the area around that old building as well as an old farmhouse belonging to the Dickey family when it was their farm; it’s known as the Historic Halfway Homestead. It’s a great way to celebrate the town’s history.
One of the ways the town lets the community enjoy the property is with their “Hollywood at The Homestead” movie series. Three nights featuring old, family-friendly movies being shown on the side of the barn.
Just to the west of the barn, is seating, amphitheater-style, for folks to sit and relax and enjoy the movies. The Town of Windsor does allow you to bring your own alcohol (non-glass) to the parks, too. A great way to spend a couple of hours on your Saturday night, for sure.
Windsor’s 2025 “Hollywood at The Homestead” Movie Series:
- Saturday, July 19: “The Parent Trap,: 1961.
- Saturday, August 16, “Charlotte’s Web, 1978.
- Saturday, September 20, “The Wizard of Oz,” 1939.
- All tickets $5. (Tickets will also be sold on site.)
2025 was the first year of the series, but I’d expect it to continue for years to come; they could expand it to more than just three showings over the years. It really does have that “old tyme” vibe, back to when things were simpler.
MORE COLORADO HISTORY – See the Renovated Johnson’s Gas in Longmont
In mid-September of 2024, after a $4.5 restoration, the new Johnson’s Station opened to the public. It’s many things: A bar, a place to work, a place to hang with the family, a date spot, a very unique Colorado destination.
