EUGENE, Ore. – Phase one of the City of Eugene’s Broadway reconstruction project is making significant progress, bringing noticeable changes to the area. The most prominent alteration is the removal of one eastbound lane.
The construction spans from Eighth Avenue and Mill Street to Broadway and east to Alder Street. The adjustments aim to enhance pedestrian accessibility with wider sidewalks, space for trees, and short-term parking options.
“The idea is to not only allow more capacity for all this more foot traffic that we are seeing but also just to make it feel safer,” said project manager Bryan Root. “We really want to make a safer corridor.”…
