Decades later, Ted’s Hot Dogs in Tempe continues serving All-American classics

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — There’s no better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than with delicious hot dogs! One mom-and-pop shop that expanded to the Valley has been serving up the All-American classic for nearly 100 years.

Ted’s Hot Dogs began in 1927 when Greek immigrant Theodore Spiro Liaros, known as “Ted,” opened the first location in New York. The number of locations and menu items grew over the years, making its way to the Valley of the Sun.

The shop has developed into a Valley favorite, thanks to their mouth-watering charcoal-grilled hot dogs. Customers can choose from three different dogs and 25 toppings to create whatever they want. The restaurant also has different sauces, ranging from spicy mustard, barbecue sauce and their own Ted’s hot sauce!

“I think what’s special is the fact that we cook them on the grill. You’re getting it made to order. You get it any way you want it,” said general manager Blaine Webster. “We call it the Subway for dogs because of the fact that you can make it any way you want it.”…
