Three years after ouster from downtown Bakersfield shack, Taco Bros is back with a vengeance

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Once upon a time, a gas station was about the last place you’d want to go for lunch. Well, thanks to businesses like Taco Bros, that has changed.

The upstart local chain is now inside two Sully’s markets, those locally owned mega convenience stores that are attached to Chevron fueling stations. That’s a trend: A Sully’s competitor, Countryside Market & Deli, operates on the same business model. Both specialize in local products like Dewar’s ice cream.  Let’s not call it gasoline cuisine, but in a sense it is.

Fresh-made tacos sure beat the heck out of rotating, four-hour-old, machine-skewered hot dogs.
