Retired NYPD detective allegedly steals stake in dead sister’s home: AG

BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A retired NYPD detective, her mother and an attorney are accused of stealing a 50% ownership stake in a Bronx home that would’ve gone to the detective’s dead sister’s husband, according to Attorney General Letitia James.

Prosecutors said Chenenne Guevarra-Francis and Barbara Guevarra-Francis allegedly used a forged deed and other forged documents to transfer ownership of a home belonging to Chenenne’s sister and Barbara’s daughter, Charmein Guevarra-Samuel. Charmein Guevarra-Samuel and Barbara Guevarra-Francis each owned a 50% stake in the Eastchester Road home, which is worth around $680,000, according to James.

Prosecutors said Charmein Guevarra-Samuel lived in the home for over 15 years with her husband before her death from a heart attack in 2020. Chenenne Guevarra-Francis and Barbara Guevarra-Francis are accused of getting the forged, notarized documents from attorney Merrick Dammar after Charmein’s death, according to James.

Prosecutors said the ownership theft was discovered when Charmein’s husband tried to apply for letters of administration for his wife’s estate. Chenenne Guevarra-Francis is also accused of attempting to evict Charmein’s husband, according to James…
