Dollywood honors local fire department with a new and improved Blazing Fury coaster

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Dollywood reopened one of its oldest rides Friday, giving the local Pigeon Forge Fire Department the first glance at the nostalgic attraction.

The new and improved Blazing Fury was unveiled in a ribbon cutting ceremony where the Dollywood Company said they are holding onto their nostalgic feel with a nod to work local fire departments do.

As one of the first to ride the roller coaster, Pigeon Forge Fire Department chief Tony Watson said they were honored to be recognized.

“The heart and soul of your community, I like to believe, is your fire department,” he said. “Whether it’s a volunteer department, whether there’s a paid department, they’re all providing that essential service to our worst day of our lives.”…
