Koons Park fireworks event sees heightened police presence after last year’s chaos

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The Fourth of July fireworks event is back on at Koons Park after Lower Paxton Township threatened to cancel the event due to chaos that led to nearly a dozen arrests.

Disorder and disarray is what took place in Koons Park last year on July 3. Lower Paxton Township Police took it up a notch this year with a heavy security presence that surveyed the entire park, intensifying their safety measures.

Lower Paxton Township Lieutenant Autumn Lupey told CBS 21 why these changes were made. “Last year, we did see quite a few problems and we have more officers here in the park.”…
