Today’s festivities in South Gate took an unexpected turn when local authorities seized a staggering 25 tons of illegal fireworks hidden within a residential area. According to an NBC Los Angeles report, the South Gate Police Department was tipped off about a potential sale of fireworks at a home on Main Street. Responding to the call, officers discovered an arsenal of contraband pyrotechnics, including several U-Haul trucks loaded with the illegal goods.
With the July 4th celebrations overtaken by vigilance, at least five individuals were caught and subsequently arrested for their involvement in what appeared to be an expansive black market operation.
