Details related to child’s cocaine-laden backpack in Mobile drug case ‘not true,’ attorney argues

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A lawyer representing a man accused of running a multimillion-dollar illegal drug network is disputing one of the most sensational allegations – that the defendant is responsible for a child found with a drug-laden backpack.

James Johnson, who represents Glennie Antonio “Little Man” McGee, registered that dispute in a court filing asking that his client’s upcoming drug conspiracy trial be moved out of Mobile. That trial is scheduled to begin July 28, but in a separate filing, Johnson asked for a postponement.

Prosecutors have called McGee a “kingpin” and allege that he used children as couriers. The backpack detail came from a raid that law enforcement officers conducted on a house on Harvey Court near Hank Aaron Park in March last year.
