Ride over Mt. Hope Bridge to get smoother, but fix is temporary

BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — The surface of the Mt. Hope Bridge will soon be getting a makeover, using a technique to coat over the bumpy, patchworked surface.

The technique, known as ultra-thin bonded overlay, will give the bridge deck a smoother ride for motorists and is expected to last about five years, according to R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority Officials.
