‘Not smart to do’: Chesterfield Police talk about consequences of celebratory gunfire

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) – As we approach the Fourth of July, the Chesterfield County Police Department warns people not to do celebratory gunfire. This situation has left a Chesterfield family heartbroken for more than a decade.

In 2013, 7-year-old Brendon Mackey was killed by celebratory gunfire after a stray bullet struck him while walking through a restaurant parking lot to watch the Fourth of July fireworks at a park.
