The National Weather Service issued a beach hazard alert to Southern California on Thursday that will be in effect through Saturday, potentially spoiling Fourth of July swimming plans.
The weather agency warns that there will be an increased risk of drowning at Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County beaches as well as Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands.
The beach hazard warning will hit Los Angeles in tandem with strong winds and fog, which will worsen travel conditions as a record number of 72.2 Americans are slated to hit the road for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
