Kelly McGowen with the University of Missouri Extension Office has some good advice for people looking to clean up storm damage from our latest round of storms. Those planning to remove fallen branches or cut down damaged trees entirely should use caution, especially when using a chainsaw.
It’s important to note that a damaged tree doesn’t necessarily have to come down. If you want to keep a damaged tree, you may be able to by pruning the damaged branches and allowing the tree to repair itself over time. It may be tempting to cut a tree down soon after a storm, but the best practice sometimes is to simply clear away the damaged branches and let the tree recover.
