Man fatally shot weeks after he allegedly attacked suspected killer with a machete

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – An arrest has been made a week after a man was found shot dead near a business in Columbus’ Independence Village neighborhood.

According to court records, officers were called to the 3100 block of Delta Marine Drive about 12:20 a.m. on June 30 on reports of a shooting. They found Joshua Williams, 46, suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead by medics at 12:46 a.m.

A police report said homicide detectives conducted interviews and learned that Williams and Eric Powell had a history of arguments, including one earlier in June when Williams allegedly attacked Powell with a machete.

Witnesses also noted that on June 29, the two were in another argument and that Powell said he was “tired of (Williams) messing with him.”…
