NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department has identified and issued a criminal homicide warrant for a suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting on Jefferson Street earlier this week.
MNPD officers were sent to Kings Market in the 1800 block of Jefferson Street shortly before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday to respond to reports of a shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, 33-year-old Marcus Caruthers, went to the store with a woman.

The preliminary investigation indicated that at some point during the argument, Ibe allegedly pulled out a gun and fired shots, striking Caruthers in the torso. Caruthers later died from his injuries.
In a Thursday press release, the MNPD said Caruthers tried to intervene in an argument between Ibe and a woman. Additionally, a court-ordered ankle monitor that Ibe had been wearing in connection with a 2024 domestic violence case was cut off following the shooting. Officers recovered the monitor on 11th Avenue North.
