Sausalito Fourth of July fireworks show canceled last minute

(KRON) — Sausalito’s Fourth of July firework show at Gabrielson Park was canceled hours before the event was set to begin Friday.

Sausalito Parks and Recreation Community Services Director Bryan Vitale told KRON4 that the show was canceled because the boat used for the firework show was taking on water and could not leave the dock.

The City of Sausalito previously scheduled the 15-minute firework show to begin at 9:15 p.m. The Sausalito Parks and Recreation Department issued a statement about the cancellation at 7:14 p.m.

“We are very sorry to announce that tonight’s Sausalito fireworks show has been cancelled due to an unexpected issue with the watercraft set to launch the fireworks,” the Sausalito Parks and Recreation Department said. “We are just as disappointed as you are. Those who purchased fireworks viewing tables will receive a full refund.”

The city is encouraging people to enjoy live music in Gabrielson Park until 9:00 p.m. instead of fireworks. Otherwise, the city is directing people to San Francisco’s firework show, visible from Pier 39 and Aquatic Park. at 9:30 p.m…
