Virginia officials provide simple water safety tips for a safe and fun summer

ROANOKE, VA. (WFXR) – Since Memorial Day, five children under the age of five have drowned in pools across Virginia.

According to Sharon Ortiz-Garcia, senior epidemiologist for the West Piedmont Health District, the biggest misconception is that a drowning child will make noise.
