Thousands of homes, businesses remain without power

Rhode Island Energy said a little more than 4,000 homes and businesses it serves had no power as of 1:30 pm Saturday.

Severe weather pushed through Southern New England on Thursday evening.

Barrington – with 1,200 – and Cranston – 2,500 – remain the two communities with the most reported outages.

Saturday morning, about 1,000 in Barrington customers who’d had their power restored earlier lost it again when a Mylar balloon got tangled in wires, according to Rhode Island energy…
