The City of Sacramento is grappling with the persistent issue of homelessness, and its latest efforts have been encapsulated in a freshly released progress report. Documenting the week of June 23-29, the city shares insights into how its Incident Management Team (IMT) has responded to homelessness-related concerns. According to the City of Sacramento’s data report, city officials addressed a wide array of calls and continued outreach to provide shelter and other resources to those in need.
Within this time span, citizens made 890 calls to the city’s 311 customer service to report issues concerning unsheltered individuals. Of these calls, 764 were resolved, either by remedying the reported issue, ensuring compliance, or finding that the problem had ceased to exist upon inspection by city staff. Additionally, Sacramento’s Department of Community Response was actively enrolling unsheltered individuals in local databases, effectively matching 81 people with shelters and necessary resources during that week.
The City of Sacramento’s report also highlighted placements into local shelters, with 17 people finding refuge in either the Roseville Road campus or the Outreach and Engagement Center (OEC). As of the start of July, both facilities had limited availability, with no Pallet homes and trailers at Roseville Road.
