The annual Lake Panorama fireworks show will be going on tonight.
Fire in the Sky organizer Stephanie Hafner says that it is the 30th annual showing of the event, funded by donations from Lake Panorama residents through fundraising done throughout the year. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the show got its start with her step Father, Joe Schiering.
“Oh, he just had a love for fireworks and you know, his nickname was Pyro Joe. So just something that he loved doing. He’d done it previously in the community that he had lived in Ankeny. And so then when he moved to the lake, it was just something that he’d kind of reached out and put together and organized. And it’s continued to grow over the last 30 years and is the incredible show that we have today.”…
