LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – What a week it has been! Nice, soaking rain has been fairly widespread. We’ve had street flooding around Lubbock, but nothing too bad. It’s a different story farther south, where there has been significant flooding today around Odessa and Midland.
Through mid-afternoon, some of the top 24-hour rain totals on the Texas Tech Mesonet include East Lubbock (Texas Tech research campus off the East Loop) at 2.52″, Abernathy 2.48″, South Plains Food Bank in SE Lubbock at 2.23″, West Lubbock near LCU at 1.76″, New Deal 1.75″, Hobbs 1.58″, O’Donnell 1.4″, Central Lubbock at Texas Tech campus 1.33″ and South Lubbock All Saints 1.22″.
Showers will continue slowly moving across the area this afternoon, with coverage gradually decreasing this evening. For the First Thursday Art Trail (moved because of the holiday tomorrow) or other evening plans, rain is still possible. But the chance will gradually go lower later this evening into tonight.
Some computer models show another round of showers and thunderstorms moving west to east across the area late tonight. Then cloudy through morning, low temp in the upper 60s.
Independence Day…
