Fireworks safety emphasized for FreedomFest after fire explosion in Tuskahoma

TULSA, OKLA. (KTUL) — In the wake of the fireworks explosion in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma, safety is the top priority for festival and county officials as they prepare for Fourth of July celebrations. The explosion, which occurred during preparations for Freedom Fest, left five people injured and led to the cancellation of Jenks Boomfest. The same company responsible for the Tuskahoma display was also set to handle the fireworks for Jenks.

Randy Howell, Event Producer for River Parks, emphasized the safety measures in place for the FreedomFest event that’s known as one of the largest fireworks shows in Tulsa County, “The Tulsa Fire Department provides a full engine crew, stationed just 100 feet from the launch site. So, if anything goes wrong — knock on wood — they’ll be able to immediately respond to that,” Howell said…
