TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – We’re on the edge of more active monsoon, to our south and southeast, and very hot and dry, to our northwest. Still, going for highs today around 101 with a shot of a few afternoon showers, more numerous to the southeast. A 30% shot today in Tucson, dropping to 20% tomorrow. For Tucson, these come close to the ‘silent pops’ as what comes with a warm/humid airmass.
Next week gets interesting. As we stay on the edge of hotter and drier to the north and northwest, more temperature reduced, but more soupy to the south and southeast. The placement of our upper level high will drive these features. For now, going for a climb in highs approaching near 110 by Wednesday. An Excessive Heat Watch for Pinal county, which might be expanded into Pima later, our local NWS is pondering this. For now, keeping pops in the 30’s and 40’s for the balance of the week.
