City of Huntsville buying land around Northern Bypass to control development

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Huntsville city leaders have been busy, writing checks, buying the land around the Northern Bypass.

Shane Davis, Huntsville’s Director of Urban and Economic Development, tells WAFF it’s a process called land banking. It’s when municipalities buy land so they can control who to sell it to and, more specifically, how to develop it.
