Growlers complete sweep of Pit Spitters with 9-3 win

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Growlers began their march towards another postseason appearance with an important win Friday, defeating the Traverse City Pit Spitters 9-3 to complete a sweep over the visitors.

Kalamazoo managed just four hits on the night but worked 11 walks to disrupt on the basepaths and come away with their second straight win in the second half of the Northwoods League season.

Leading 4-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Growlers put up five runs to put the game out of reach. Traverse City scored a run in the top of the ninth to complete the scoring.
