A Villager has lost his driver’s license after crashing his golf cart into a tree.
Scott Darren Lacoss, 66, of the Village of Hemingway, pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to a charge of driving under the influence. He was placed on probation for one year, will lose his driver’s license for six months and has been ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
He was found at the scene of the crash shortly before 6 p.m. March 28 at Morse Boulevard and Bonita Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy who arrived on the scene found that Lacoss had eyes that were “bloodshot and watery.” He had a “strong odor of alcohol” coming from his breath. He stood up and stumbled from his golf cart to an EMS stretcher which was a few feet away. The Manchester, Conn. native admitted to EMS personnel that he had been drinking alcohol…
