Property taxes are on the rise another year in a row for Leon County residents, according to the latest update from the Leon County Property Appraiser’s office.
Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi turned in the preliminary tax roll for the year to the Florida Department of Revenue and local taxing authorities – but market values have risen nearly 5% from last year to now.
The new property tax of 5.4% is a drop down from the 7.3% the county saw last year, which according to Akinyemi lines up with annual averages: It “aligns more closely with the typical 3% to 5% annual appreciation.”…
