Iowa Weather Alert: Cedar Rapids and Iowa City See Over 2 Inches of Rainfall Today

Cedar Rapids, IA – Residents across eastern Iowa woke up to significant rainfall totals today, with parts of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and surrounding communities reporting more than 2 inches of rain in just 24 hours.

According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities office, rainfall amounts recorded between Friday and Saturday morning exceeded 2 inches in several areas, with Williamsburg topping the list at 2.39 inches and multiple sites in and near Cedar Rapids and Iowa City seeing totals above 2 inches. The heaviest rain was concentrated along and west of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, much of which fell in a short period, providing welcome relief amid recent dry spells.

The highest 24-hour rainfall reports included 2.31 inches in Iowa City, 2.27 inches in Marion, and 2.15 inches in Parnell.
