Central marks 20 years with fireworks, music, and community spirit

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – On Saturday, July 5, the City of Central and the Central Chamber of Commerce teamed up to host an event to celebrate the Fourth of July, as well as the anniversary of Central becoming a city. The Chamber of Commerce hosted the Shop the Square event, which consisted of dozens of vendors and local artists. The city of Central put on the “Red, White and Boom” event with live music from local favorites and a fireworks show to end the night. Mayor Wade Evans says this event shows how far Central has come in 20 years.

“You’re seeing a lot of good progress, these community events like this remind us that we’re still a community, and so the goal is to bring everybody together, come and have a good time,” Evans said. “What you see happening in central is because we expect great things, we allow great things, and we hold you to it.”

For two other men born and raised in Central – Hunter Tarver and Luke Jones, the 20th anniversary of the City of Central is extra special to them, and their bandmates, as they get to be on stage, performing, where they have spent their entire lives being in the crowd…
