ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Severson Dells Nature Center invited the community to learn about how engineers mimic animal ingenuity.
The nature center set up six to eight stations on nature’s engineers, including bees and beavers. Attendees got to learn how bees build their hives and how beavers make their own dams. One challenge attendee could do was to build a dam in a pan and see if they can stop water from traveling.
“We just want people to kind of create that connection with the land. see how we interact with nature. We’re talking a lot about camouflage as well, how do animals blend into their environment, create that space and engineer that area as well.”…
