Portland driver hits 4 women in Old Town in front of police, faces assault and DUII charges

Officers arrested a man Friday on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and assault after he ran a stop sign and hit four women crossing a street in Old Town/Chinatown, police said.

While police said the women’s injuries weren’t life threatening, those hit by the Mustang suffered “concussions, a broken arm and laceration to the head requiring stitches,” police said.

Shortly before the collision, officers were responding to reports of a fight at Northwest Fourth Avenue and Couch Street around 2 a.m. They arrived to find a group of more than 100 people in the area, police said. Officers broke up the fight and the people started to disperse, officials said…
