The Evansville area can expect rain and storms to continue through the next week, with chances each day. While temperatures may cool slightly into the upper 80s later in the week, the heat and humidity will persist. We are closely monitoring the development of storms across southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and southwest Indiana. The hot and humid airmass combined with slow-moving storms could lead to localized flooding. A few damaging downbursts are also possible. Afternoon showers and storms are likely through Wednesday, with locally heavy rain and a few strong storms possible. While the coverage of storms may decrease slightly towards the latter half of the week, another potential system could bring increased rain chances on Saturday. We will continue to monitor this developing system and provide updates as needed. Although hot, temperatures are expected to remain seasonable and below advisory levels.
