Laura Ingalls Wilder Returns to Defiance Co. Libraries

Learn all about life on the frontier as Laura Ingalls Wilder, portrayed by Laura Keyes, visits Defiance County next month to present “Moving Day for Laura Ingalls Wilder,” a free event for children and families.

Keyes will visit on July 21, stopping at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, High Street, Hicksville, at 10:30 a.m.; Sherwood Branch Library, 117 N. Harrison St. at 1:00 p.m.; and Defiance Public Library, 320 Fort St., at 6:00 p.m.

In this presentation, Wilder is preparing to move her family from South Dakota to Missouri in the spring of 1894. Attendees will learn about both the challenging and fun aspects of life on the frontier in the 1870s-1880s, as well as which chores Wilder was responsible for and what special items she’s packing for her big move.
