Deputies: Man dies of ‘medical episode’ after being shot at near Battle Creek

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after having a medical episode in the back of a patrol car after a fight near Battle Creek, deputies said.

Around 11:37 a.m. Sunday, deputies with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office were called to North Avenue near St. Mary’s Lake Road in Pennfield Township for a physical fight where a shot had reportedly been fired.

Arriving deputies found a 35-year-old Kalamazoo man in the driveway of a home and put him in the back of a patrol vehicle while they questioned him about what happened. They found out who and where the shooter was and secured the scene, according to the sheriff’s office…
