Sharon Owens’ historic primary win last month last month leaves her poised to become Syracuse’s first Black woman mayor. She did it by dominating the polls across the city, winning 15 of the city’s 17 wards and 62% of the vote.
Her win showed that Democratic voters are ready for four more years of the collaborative, measured approach taken by Ben Walsh’s administration. They rightly rejected Pat Hogan’s campaign message that the city is headed in the wrong direction.
