‘We’re family,’ Sandy Creek community in NW TravCo mourns after deadly floods

AUSTIN, Texas — The Sandy Creek community in northwest Travis County is grieving and searching for answers after this weekend’s deadly flash floods left at least six people dead and several others still missing.

Among the heartbreak, neighbors and volunteers have gathered at Round Mountain Baptist Church, now serving as an emergency shelter, where they are sorting through photographs and belongings carried off by the floodwaters.
