We Can’t Stop Loving This Lakewood Ranch!

Is this the cutest home I have seen all month? Why yes, yes it is. The more I look at it, the more I cannot stop loving this Lakewood Ranch!

I am so impressed by the way buyers are taking these older ranch homes and completely reinventing them. This is one of the best I have ever seen, with great 1950s bones and all the necessary updates.

One positive outcome of the global pandemic was its spurring of innovative outdoor spaces. Those are now a necessity, and this home has the most adorable courtyard. “At Halloween, everyone sits out front around the fire pit. It’s like a little block party,” Compass listing agent Liz Mello said.

Although it’s hard to tear yourself away from the courtyard, inside you have 1,792 square feet, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms to love. The 1952 planter that divides the living and dining rooms was kept intact, which is a bonus, as we seldom see these any longer. They provide just the right amount of separation between the spaces, and of course, they are just as cool now as when they were designed in the 1950s.

There are a couple of surprises here that you simply don’t expect in a Lakewood Ranch. One of the unexpected assets is my favorite feature: a back house!

As I’ve mentioned, I am always looking for ways for you to offset your mortgage in my Saturday posts, and nothing beats a back house that’s also a revenue stream. This one spans 441 square feet with a full bath. You could install a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee station cart in here and use it for a short-term rental. You can also use it as a guest quarters, home office, or gym. Back houses are the best because they offer a multitude of versatile uses.

Now let’s talk location. This Lakewood Ranch is half a block from Tokalon Park and White Rock Lake. The White Rock YMCA is just across Gaston, a five-minute walk or two minutes away by car. Everything you need, from groceries and pet supplies to a great brewery and, of course, Raising Cane’s is in Arboretum Village, a two-minute drive or a 10-minute walk away. You can also hop on the Santa Fe Trail for a bike ride…
