Isolated storms possible before heat takes over

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock is inching back toward classic summer conditions, but with a chance for evening storms.

It’s another warm July evening across the South Plains and Sunday night brings a familiar pattern: A few pop-up isolated storms flirting with the northwest part of our region.

Most folks will stay dry, but don’t be surprised if you catch a brief downpour or gusty wind, especially closer to the Texas-New Mexico state line.

Just like Saturday, scattered showers may drift out of eastern New Mexico and into the western portion of our viewing area. Rain won’t be widespread, but where storms do develop, expect heavy bursts and strong outflows…
