Madre Fire scorches 80,400+ acres in San Luis Obispo County, containment efforts underway

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — California’s largest wildfire of 2025 has burned more than 80,400 acres in San Luis Obispo County.

The Madre Fire is burning in the southeastern area of San Luis Obispo County, a few miles west of Kern County. As of Monday morning, the fire has burned 80,480 acres and is 30% contained.
