NEW MARKET, Ala. — A 23-year-old man from Birmingham was shot and killed early Sunday morning at a home in New Market.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 1:15 a.m. to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of Bent Creek Lane. When they arrived, they found Evan Mayomi with a gunshot wound to the chest. Deputies and HEMSI paramedics tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
