NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Second Harvest Food Bank and Ochsner Health are partnering to launch the Makin’ Groceries Mobile Market on Tuesday, July 8.
According to a news release, the market aims to expand healthy food access and address food insecurity by bringing groceries to patients, healthcare workers and the surrounding community. Available groceries reportedly include fresh produce, proteins, dairy and pantry staples.

“Health starts with access to nutritious food and partnering with Second Harvest to bring a mobile food market onsite at our hospital ensures that our employees, patients and visitors have convenient access to fresh produce right where they are,” said Beth Walker, chief executive officer at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans. “It’s one more way we are investing in the well-being of Jefferson Parish, our Ochsner community and supporting healthier lifestyles.”
The market will be open on the second Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Ochsner Medical Center New Orleans at 1515 River Road. Alternatively, it will be open on the fourth Tuesday of every month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Ochsner West Campus at 2614 Jefferson Highway…
