CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Van Buren and Harrison bridges in Corvallis were temporarily closed on Sunday afternoon as police responded to an armed individual threatening self-harm, Corvallis police officials said.
According to the Corvallis Police Department, the person was found at about 4 p.m. on July 6 standing outside the guard rail on the Van Buren Bridge with what appeared to be a gun. Officers worked to ensure community safety by closing traffic on both bridges and deploying safety resources on the Willamette River, authorities said.
Corvallis police officials said that law enforcement authorities attempted to communicate with the individual, who refused dialogue.
